Hi Whimsical,
at the moment that option is not available with snip & sketch.
it is a fantastic suggestion, i am surprised microsoft didn't think about it before release.
please use the feedback hub (winkey+f) to make the suggestion to the development team.
if you post a link to the feedback in here, i will vote for it (perhaps others will too) the more votes it gets the more likely microsoft are to adopt it.

as a workaround, you might find clipboard history useful when taking multiple screenshots.
settings -> system -> clipboard
turn on clipboard history.
you can then use winkey+v to view multiple items and paste them.
i still think your suggestion is a better idea.

Hi There..
I had the same issue...I have what I would call a semi workaround
Initial set up
- snip
- click on image pop up from clipboard
- click on save
- this will take you to your default folder, I assume that it will be <pictures>
- Create a new folder within your picture folder, my suggestion is you give the name of the project you are completing if you are doing a large number of grabs
- save within this new folder
When you go to grab again, it will default to this new folder...so at least you:
- Have a labelled folder
- Not spending time on save as each time you grab
I hope that helps
NB, if I am putting grabs straight into a .pptx/.docx I find it easier to use the insert>screenshot>screenclipping
Kind regards
Tim W

YES, I need it to auto save to a folder of my choice. I prefer to save to my desktop as I drag and drop images often on a daily basis

Having a default location to save Screenshots to is a pretty major feature to leave out of a Snipping app, its hard to believe.
To make this somewhat usable, I have the PrintScrn key set as shortcut, you can access this in Setting>Ease of Access>Keyboard, there's a toggle to use your PrintScrn key to launch Snipping.
After I take a screenshot, or a Snip, I Click the Action center notification for the Snip, this will bring up the full App, from there I save.
Once you change your save location it will remember it.
I know it's a terribly long and round about way to get to save a Snip or Screenshot, but's its the only way I've been able to do it

How do we upvote this? Users need to be able to set a default save location for snips. This is basic functionality. You were *so* close to being equal to/better than MacOS in this regard Windows! Great work, love how you're stepping your game up (on this front and others), but please push this feature over the line!

After I hit print Screen and the picture is taken I do not see a screen where it is. It disappears into the Clipboard...
There are great instructions for how to use the tool here however the tool does not work - specifically the step that says..."A notification window pops up telling you that the snip was saved to the clipboard. Click anywhere in that window ( Figure D ) and he full Snip & Sketch program opens--you can now modify the screenshot.
Nothing happens when I click in the window. :(

microsoft messed SNIP up so bad it`s not usable anymore. go to settings - make windows better send them a message & tell them what you think. if enough reply they will fix it.

Good idea. Put one engineer on this for a week and finish the feature Mircosoft, seriously!
It's not that far off being a great tool (for screenshots, not recordings). It's frustrating that it's just missing that crucial 1% (i.e.: let me click a checkbox to tell S&S to save snips, and allow me to set the save location).
